You've made great choice to come study in Canada! We are a large beautiful country with cosmopolitan cities and spectacular landscapes ready to be explored. Studying in Canada is safe and fun and a great way to make new lifetime friends. EF International Language School in Vancouver welcomes thousands of students every year and we would love to offer some tips on making your time in Canada amazing.

The summers are hot, but in autumn the temperatures drop. Be prepared by packing a scarf, gloves and knit hat. Vancouver is much milder, although you will need a mini-umbrella for our rain-forest climate. Also, pack your high school and/or college transcripts. Many of our students realize they want to attend university here, so bring your documents just in case you would like to apply. The EF University Preparation Abroad (UP) program helps students with the application process. Canadian universities require very good TOEFL scores, which means you must study hard for the exam. Our UP students are confident after two terms of preparation.

Getting good marks is important, and so is socializing. Universities welcome new students with special parties, activities and events. EF has an orientation week with a huge welcome party for the entire school and smaller parties for specialized programs like University Preparation.

In North America, classes start on the first day of the term so be prepared for your first class with a pen and notebook, or your computer. The first exams can be as soon as three weeks from the start, so start studying from the first day. A great way to learn and socialize is to start a study group with other new students.

Canadians are friendly and we'll help you get settled into your new life - just ask. We'd love to show you our country, so come study with us!
